Guy Elder Competes in Coastal Rowing World Championships

Club member Guy Elder travelled to Sidney, Canada earlier this month to compete in the World Rowing Coastal Championships. He competed in the GBR02 double against the very best coastal rowers from all over the world.

The debut on the international stage came with mixed results. In the heats, the crew did enough to qualify for the A final, along with 2 other GB doubles. On finals day things didn't quite go to plan with the bow man's rigger pin coming loose. From that point it was hanging on and they managed to get round the 6k course in 13th place out of 16. "We didn't get to put in our best performance" conceded Elder "but it was great to be part of the event".
